First 72 Hours: The Crucial Bonding Period

  • Do not wash your hair for the first 24 to 72 hours to allow the keratin to fully bond.

  • Avoid tying, clipping, or tucking your hair behind your ears—creases can form and affect results.

  • No sweating or exercising—moisture can disrupt the treatment.

  • Do not wear hats, headbands, sunglasses, or use hair grips—they can leave dents or marks.

  • If your hair gets wet accidentally, immediately blow dry and re-straighten with a flat iron.

Essential Washing & Styling Routine

  1. Wash with sulfate-free (salt-free) shampoo & conditioner only. These preserve keratin and prolong results.

  2. Apply a lightweight hair serum to damp hair (avoiding the roots) after every wash.

  3. Blow dry to style – always dry completely after washing.

  4. Use a flat iron if needed for a sleek, glossy finish.

  5. Apply heat protection before using irons or styling tools.

Extra Styling Boost!

  • Use John Frieda 3-Day Straight Styling Spray with keratin for smooth, sleek hair until your next wash.

  • For frizz-prone or very curly hair, use serum + spray + irons to dramatically reduce styling time.

Night Care

  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and prevent frizz.

  • Wear your hair down and loose at all times, especially in the first 72 hours.

Washing After 72 Hour Window

  • After your first initial wash following the 72 hour wait, continue to use sulfate-free products only.

  • Use a shower cap if you’re not washing your hair during baths to avoid moisture.

  • Style as usual but avoid daily ironing—moderation preserves keratin longer.

Holiday & Seasonal Protection

  • Before swimming or sun exposure, spray a leave-in conditioner or UV hair protector(like our Organic Protect Leave-In).

  • Avoid chlorine and sea salt where possible—rinse immediately if exposed.

Chemical & Colouring Treatments

  • Wait at least14 days after treatment before colouring or chemically treating your hair. Always follow your colourists advise.

  • Be aware that keratin may slightly alter or fade freshly coloured hair due to the natural bonding process.

Let your Keratin Treatment from Keratins of Kent shine longer by treating your hair with love, moisture, and protection.

Keratin Is Not a ‘Wash & Go’ Treatment

It is not a substitute for styling—for a sleek finish, hair still needs to be blow-dried and styled post-wash. Keratin helps cut down styling time and makes hair easier to manage, but daily care is still essential.

Top Tip:
For best results, we recommend our Organic Argan Oil Gloss or John Frieda Frizz-Ease Serum with heat protection.

Your Hair Needs Daily Nourishment

Just like skin needs moisture, hair needs serum and oils to stay shiny and healthy—especially post-keratin. Keep your ends hydrated and your cuticles sealed for the ultimate frizz-free, glossy look.
