Frequently asked questions
We do not recommend this treatment for hair that is over-bleached, severely damaged, or weak, especially if the frizz is caused by damage. Instead, we suggest our all-natural keratin treatments, which are specially designed to strengthen and repair your hair safely.
It's perfect to resolve frizzy hair and for those that use hair straighteners on a regular basis.
A Brazilian Blow Dry (also known as a keratin treatment) is a professional smoothing service that uses a keratin-based formula to repair, strengthen, and straighten hair. It removes frizz, adds shine, and makes hair more manageable by sealing keratin deep into the hair cuticle.
Hair is naturally made of a strong protein called keratin. Over time, repeated keratin treatments can strengthen the hair shaft but may also slightly reduce its elasticity. In some cases, this reduced flexibility could contribute to breakage or hair fall, especially if the hair is already compromised.
However, this largely depends on your hair’s current condition — for example, whether your hair is virgin (untreated) or has been chemically coloured or processed.
If you have real human hair extensions, we can treat them with our Brazilian Blow Dry to help match the texture of your natural hair. However, we strongly advise against treating synthetic or factory-processed extensions, as these are specially treated by the manufacturer and react very differently compared to natural hair.
Extensions will need to be removed before your treatment and can be refitted at least 7 days after your Brazilian Blow Dry to ensure optimal results and maintain the health of both your natural hair and the extensions.
Treatment time varies depending on hair length, thickness, and condition, but it usually takes between 2.5 to 3 hours. Occasionally it may take longer than this due to the thickness of your hair.
Not necessarily. The primary goal is to eliminate frizz and improve manageability. On very curly hair, the treatment will significantly loosen curls but may not make it completely straight. On wavy or mildly curly hair, results are often smoother and straighter.
The following information will help you understand how long a keratin treatment can last:
Keratin treatments can be repeated every 6–8 weeks. This means the treatment should ideally be done at this frequency, rather than focusing solely on how long it lasts, because every person's hair is unique and changes over time due to many factors.
Factors such as hair colouring, diet, sun exposure, chlorine, hormonal changes, and shampoos containing sulfates can cause the hair to become damaged and porous, opening the hair cuticle and leading to faster loss of keratin, colour, and moisture.
Repeating keratin treatments regularly helps keratin accumulate in the hair, enhancing results over time. Seeing the same technician also helps maintain consistency, as each specialist uses slightly different keratin formulas (some with formaldehyde, some amino acid-based).
Typically, long-term clients schedule their treatments every 2–3 months, while others who swim or travel frequently may opt for monthly treatments due to increased keratin loss.
We hope this helps you decide when to repeat your keratin treatment, especially if this is your first time with us.
Yes, but the timing matters. It’s recommended to colour your hair at least 2 weeks before your keratin treatment. If colouring afterwards, wait 10–14 days post-treatment. Always consult your technician for personalised advice.
When applied correctly, a keratin treatment repairs and protects your hair. Our products are formaldehyde-free and formulated to strengthen and improve hair quality, especially for dry, brittle, or damaged hair.
I work with several high-quality keratin brands depending on stock and your hair needs. You can choose between formulas with 0.2% or 0.1% formaldehyde for longer-lasting results (up to 3–4 months), or a formaldehyde-free option that lasts around 4–6 weeks. We’ll discuss the best choice for you during your consultation.
Yes, if we have it in stock, I have 2 options depending on client requirements. Original Formula 0.2% Formaldehyde. Mid Formula 0.1% Formaldehyde.

Yes, but aftercare instructions vary based on the product used. You’ll typically need to wait 3 days before washing your hair. You must use sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner to preserve results and avoid drying out your hair.
For the first 72 hours, avoid tying your hair, using clips, tucking it behind your ears, or sleeping with it up. This helps the treatment set properly and avoids kinks or dents.
Avoid sweating excessively, swimming, or getting your hair wet during the first 3 days post-treatment. After that, try to avoid salt and chlorinated water, or use protective hair products and rinse your hair immediately afterwards.
There may be a mild scent during the application and straightening process. Proper ventilation is required ensured during treatments, especially in your home.
No. For health and safety reasons, we do not perform keratin treatments on pregnant or nursing women.
Yes! The treatment works just as well on men’s hair, especially for reducing frizz, thick curls, or unruly hair textures.
You can safely repeat the treatment every 6 to 8 weeks, though some clients with frequent sun or chlorine exposure choose to repeat it monthly for best results.
Yes, we are fully transparent about the products we use. If you would like to review the full list of ingredients in our keratin treatments, simply let us know and we will provide it upon request. This is especially important if you have allergies, sensitivities, or medical concerns. We encourage all clients to inform us of any known allergies during the video consultation so we can ensure the product is safe for your use.
During the treatment, some clients may experience mild eye-watering due to vapours released in the drying process. To minimise this, we provide safety-moulded glasses and strongly recommend ensuring good ventilation by opening windows and doors — especially in smaller or confined spaces.
If weather conditions allow, the treatment can even be performed in a sheltered outdoor area for added comfort.
While this part of the process can feel intense for some, the exceptional results of smoother, healthier-looking hair are often well worth it. Your comfort and safety are our priority, and we’ll guide you through each step of the process.
Our Brazilian Blow Dry treatments are strictly for clients aged 18 and over. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and suitability of the treatment, as it involves professional-strength products that are not recommended for minors.
To ensure the best possible results from your Brazilian Blow Dry, please follow these essential preparation steps:
· Wash your hair three times the night before your appointment using a sulphate-free shampoo. This helps remove product buildup and prepares the hair shaft to fully absorb the treatment.
· Do not use any conditioner or styling products after washing, as this can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment.
· Ensure your hair is fully dried before your stylist arrives, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in advance.
· Make sure the treatment area in your home is clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated, with access to hot water and electricity.
· Keep children and pets away from the treatment area to avoid distractions and safety risks.
· If good ventilation is difficult indoors, the treatment can be done in a sheltered outdoor space, weather permitting.
These steps help ensure the treatment is safe, effective, and delivers long-lasting results.
Your health and safety is always top priority. If you have asthma or any respiratory conditions, we strongly advise consulting your GP before booking a Brazilian Blow Dry treatment. The treatment process produces vapours that may cause irritation or discomfort, especially in small or poorly ventilated spaces.
